Renters have the right to a comfy home that is healthy and liveable through summer and winter.
Canberra renters are freezing in winter and sweltering in summer because they’re being forced to live in inefficient ‘glorified tents’ that cost an arm and a leg to heat or cool. This is bad for our health, it increases power bills, and it's causing pollution that is damaging our climate.
The ACT Government could change this. They need to introduce minimum energy efficiency standards for rental properties so that all Canberrans safe, liveable, comfy homes.
Dear Mick Gentleman MLA, Minister for Planning and Land Management,
People in Canberra deserve homes that they can keep at a healthy temperature without having to face unaffordable power bills. Thus, we are calling upon the ACT Government to introduce minimum energy efficiency standards for rental properties. This will improve health for renting families, reduce the cost of living, and cut the pollution that is damaging our climate.
