
Renter Bootcamp and Lobby Day
In November 2024 we brought 20+ renters together from across Australia for advocacy training and then a lobby day in Parliament House. Our group of renters conducted a press event with Senator Pocock, ran a briefing with the Parliamentary Friends of Housing, and met with 19 politicians over the course of the day.

"We Live Here"
We Live Here is a photo anthology of poor conditions in rental homes. Renters submitted hundreds of photos of crappy conditions in their rental homes, which we turned into this printed book and shared with federal politicians in Parliament House. Cost of Renting Survey - Joule Thieves
In May-June 2024 we surved 1400 renters across Australia about their experiences of rental and energy costs. Drawing upon the data that renters shared with us, we produced a report, Joule Thieves, highlighting the challenges that renters face in relation to substandard rental homes, unhealthy indoor temperatures, and inflated energy costs. Tenant Talks 2024
Tenant Talks was a project where renters hosted events in their communities to discuss their experiences as renters, what needed to change, and what we can do about it. Fifteen renters across Australia hosted events, bringing together a diverse range of perspectives from every part of Australia. Read more.

The Coping Cookbook
The Coping Cookbook is a crowd-sourced collection of 'recipes' to help you stay cool in the heat. They are especially designed to be low-tech and cheap methods, suitable for renters or anyone with a limited budget or less control over their living space. Learn more.

Renter Researchers
Renter Researchers is a citizen-science project where renters work with us to study the temperatures in their homes and how this affects them. Better Renting has found that renters are routinely exposed to unhealthy temperatures due to substandard housing. Learn more.
